Carbon fiber (CF) is a new type of fiber material with high strength and high modulus, whose carbon content is more than 95%. It is a microcrystalline graphite material obtained by carbonization and graphitization of organic fibers such as flake graphite microcrystals stacked along the axial direction of the fibers.
Microscopically, carbon fibers are composed of layered carbon sheet crystals, which are only one layer thick, and the carbon atoms in the plane are arranged in a hexagonal shape, similar to the shape of a honeycomb.
The carbon fiber has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, friction resistance, electric conduction, heat conduction, corrosion resistance and the like, is fibrous in appearance, soft, and can be processed into various fabrics, and has high strength and modulus along the fiber axis direction due to the preferred orientation of the graphite microcrystalline structure along the fiber axis.
